Deliberations of the mind (seireitei)

[Asuna]

Asuna was becoming impatient, the nonstop hustle and bustle of being a captain had not been all she had imagined, there seemed to always be someone demanding her time.

The young man standing in front of her seemed to pick up on his dislike of him nearly immidietly, there was a cockiness to his attitude that made her want to slam her fist into his face. Still she maintained calm, the boy had written up a formal challenge to the legitimacy of her captain-ship and challenged her to combat for the seat. She knew she could refuse, or beat the boy down but something was triggered in the darkest reaches of her mind. An urge to fight, a dark hunger to see blood.

She stamped her approval on the form before turning her seat around. "It is done boy, don't regret your decision."

There was always someone wanting her time...

As the time of the fated match grew closer, Asuna deliberated in what possible motive the boy had for wanting to challenge her. Still it bothered her that a fifth seat would challenge her. Her mind raced as she debated on different scenarios ranging from the boy being stonger than he seemed or if the sheepish seeming lad was in for a rude awakening.

"Either way I will shut him down." She told herself. Her mind was racing widly. Her attention turned back to the mountain of paperwork in front of her.

The small clock on the wall ticked away nonstop, each second bringing her closer to drawing her blade again. "I dont know anything about anyone in this squad" she mumbled to herself as she sat up out of her reclining chair. Her white and black haori clung to her legs. Checking the long blade on her side she stepped out of the office leaving haruko in charge with a simple nod of her head.

The courtyard was awash with spectators, each struggling to get a seat to watch the contest.

The large crowd made way for Asuna as she strode out, she was surprised to see the boy sitting on the stone cobblestone. Looking at the boy she couldent even tell how old he was but there was a timeless look in the boys pale purple eye's. The small figure seemed to extrude confidence. The feeling was unsettling for Asuna who did little to make herself feel confident in this small display.

She didnt know anyone in the squad and this boy was no exeption, prior to him striding into her office she had never even known he had exsisted.

Without a word she drew her blade and pointed it at the child. " I take no joy in this duel, however I can not relinquish control of this squad" she said calmly.

The boy stood up and drew his blade with a smooth fluid grace his confident sounding voice calmed the crowd gathered when he spoke "tear the heavens asunder hanyo" the boys blade took on a whiplike look small spiked barbs covered the steel whip. The weapon looked menacing to most of the onlookers, asuna however was unmoved as she held her blade out before her "shatter the silence saishu sasayaki" she whispered as she spread her arms apart calmly revealing two blades.

The boy looked unmoved as he drew the whip back sending the tip at asuna with little dely, the loud crack of the air as the whip flew through the air made many onlookers wince.
Asuna lifted her wakizashi to meet the whip with little delay catching the barbed weapon on the short blade and allowing her to free up her other arm for a counter attack. The croud groaned as a small red shot slammed into asunas chest knocking her back. The small orb had clearly been under charged yet the attack felt like something from a member of the kido corps.

[Asuna]

The boy said nothing however watching as his whip returned to him, seemingly of its own accord, the sound of the faster than sound tip made a loud pop once more.

Asuna jumped back, checking the burn on her chest, the wound hurt more than she wanted to admit however her haori was singed and her kimono shredded, reddened burned flesh was exposed on her upper left breast.

a second orb shot at her, this time Asuna knew she did not miss the incantation, the boy was not chanting anything yet his kido was hitting like this

Asuna quckly ducked the fast moving projectile only to find the whip slamming into her back from behind her, another loud "crack" Filled the air as she twisted her body at the impact of a third red shot slamming into her side.

She had been reckless and underestimated her opponent and now she was paying a price.

The crowd went wild watching the new captain get worked by a lowly fifth seat.

[Asuna]

Asuna was getting irritated by the the boy who seemed to be having no problem launching shot after shot at asuna, with each crack of the whip an orb would launch at her. This seemed to ckne from the whip itself, not the boy. Which accounted for the strength of each orb.

The small ball of ice on her shoulder responded to another of the incoming red shots. The sheet of ice exploded when met by the red orb but the orb was gone as well.
Asuna lunged forward plunging the tip of her katana at the boys chest.
The blade met air as he ducked down, wrapping the whip around her legs with ease.

[Asuna]

The moment the whip wrapped itself around her legs asuna could feel the vile barbs stabing into her legs. Almost immidetly a jolt of electricity surged into her legs bringing her to her knees. Stabbing her blades into the stone she grabbed at the whip removeing the bargs quickly. The barbs tore at her skin as she removed it covering her legs in blood as it ripped. Grabbing the swords once more asuna stood up and quickly realized the folly in underestimating the boy.

[Asuna]

She saw another flick of the. Boys wrist watching how his whip responded, seemingly alive the blade struck out at her again. Asuna ducked down allowing the whip to travel over her silver hair. As she dropped down she lunged out again and this time however the distinct sound of blade piercing flesh.

Her blade erupted from the boys back stained with blood.

[Asuna]

Asuna withdrew the blade from the boys body, the blood frozen to the blade indicating that the wound had already frozen over. The noy didnt even grimace at the blade piercing his chest, instead he withdrew the whip back with a loud bang" that shook the air. A large bolt of lightning struck the ground behind asuna who had barely had time to evade. Stone and dirt flew from the impact point ripping both combatants clothing further.

Asuna noticed the boy didnt show even an ounce of pain despite having been impaled just moments ago.

The boy said nothing, but remained focused on the battle at hand, This surprised Asuna who was used to the gloating and chastisement of her opponents.

Still her focus remained on watching and observing the boys movements, each flick of the boys wrist sent a kido of one form or another at her. she had begun to be able to predict the movements based on the movements his wrist made.

[Asuna]

Asuna's chest still burned from the kido strikes, however she was losing her control of her temper, the use of kido was something she hated more than anything

a second blade erupted through the boy's body as asuna thrust again, this time following a cut across the boy's thigh dropping him to his knees. Withdrawing her blade from his body she kicked him over with little remorse before walking away "Clean this mess up." was all she said as she walked away to change her clothes yet again. She was getting tired of dealing with the constant cost of replacing her clothes.

The office offered no solace for asuna, the mountains of paperwork isntantly made her regret returning, the wounds she had suffered were painful but were not life threatening. Her frustration at the mountain of paperwork had peaked. Replacing her kimono with one of the many she had spare. Her haori swung over her shoulders she stepped back out into the nightmare of seireitei.
Her desire to go back and look for her brother was at a high point, she has been wanting to go out searching once more but the duties of her captainship was overwhelming.

Heading put to the senkai gaye without another word to anyone. She didnt know if the boy who had challenged her was still alive but she cared little. A guard looked at her with little notice as she entered the gate, it seemed like they were used to her coming and going as she pleased.

Her destination was japan once again.
