Silence in Death Empty Silence in Death

Post by Aloysius Koehler Fri Dec 30, 2016 10:34 am

Cole's dreams were anything but pleasant, as he tossed and turned in the night. He felt the fires of hell, as they scorched his face and body. He heard the screams of the dying and fighting, and watched as two sides collided in a frenzy, a never ending maelstrom of destruction and demise. Cole could hear a voice shouting over the chaos, two voices in fact, speaking in tandem. Then, there were three, all booming and commanding the disordered fighters to persevere, to endure. The chaos grew, the inferno engulfed more, and the scene became increasingly violent and desperate as one after another fell to their opponents.

"Keep the line!" One voice shouted in desperation, originating from a senior, white haired, though healthy and well-built man with glowing, ornamental lines adorning his arms and a fiery aura projecting around him. He fired an arrow of energy at the nearest foe that seemed to materialize out of nothing, and moved with a blinding speed. His presence was overwhelming at first, but quickly became familiar, though Cole did not understand.

"Father, watch out!" The other voice shouted, originating from a younger, tall man seemingly filled with unbridled youth and vigor. He had golden hair and eyes as he surged forth with a blade of blue and golden energy, and bore a similar aura and tattoos adorning him. He sliced through a number of flanking enemies, as the two stood back to back.

The third voice remained more as a whisper now, almost imperceptible and yet noticeable to the point of driving Cole insane attempting to understand what it was saying.

"So this is it, hmm? The great army of the reapers." The senior spoke, almost laughing at the chaotic predicament. His presence was calming in the nightmare of chaos and war.

The whispering grew to talking, though no words could be understood still.

"Yes... for you." The younger man spoke, his aura turning sour and black as he turned toward the elder he had just saved, his blade poised at his chest and a bloody mist covering his eyes.
"Death is not an end."
"I am your end."

The talking grew to shouting.

All proceeded in slow motion, as though every second were a painting, and every detail a paintstroke. Each moment that passed felt like a lifetime as slowly, but surely, the blade began to move towards the elder. As it cut into him, the world around became darker, bleaker, and bore less color. Soon, only shards of the man's golden aura remained.

The shouting became hysterical.

The black and golden man turned toward Cole, staring at him with now golden, fiery eyes.

The hysterical yelling became deafening, and it was only now that Cole understood what it was. It was him. Shouting, yelling, hysterically, for the man that was slain and the monster that stood before him.

"Silence." The man spoke, as his blade became brighter and closer to Cole. Just before it struck, Cole started with a fright, sitting up in his bed in a cold sweat, breathing heavily. His reiatsu, his flames, were emanating from him and all around him, as his room was cast in the warm glow of the orange and blue flames that now abounded and yet burned nothing in their wake. As Cole regained his senses, he stifled the flames with a thought and recovered control of his reiatsu, leaving an unscathed, plain room in its wake. His mind whirred with questions, his body felt heavy, his heart raced despite no threat to him, and his sight was still blurry, and bleak, due to the night that surrounded him. The only light now was the pale white of the moon that shone through the window.

There was silence.

Silence in Death Empty Re: Silence in Death

Post by Aloysius Koehler Fri Dec 30, 2016 11:51 am

It took some time before Cole could relax and regulate his breathing, even longer for the haze over his mind to fade. Though, as if on cue, a blaze of blue flames erupted before him momentarily, giving way to a familiar face and form. His sapphire blue eyes bore into him with a quizzical expression, uncertain of the reasons behind Cole's latest outburst and likely on-edge until it was revealed that there was no threat. The sandy-haired boy that sat cross-legged in front of him still bore no name nor memories, but was a guiding voice of reason to Cole all the same, and has been such through several battles.

"What's wrong?" He inquired after a momentary pause.
"N... nothing... I think." Cole stammered for a moment, placing a hand over half of his face as he tried to gauge his own state of mind. "I think it was just a nightmare."
"Nightmares don't normally cause you to try to burn the whole house down." The boy pointed out.
"No, it's just... I don't know."
"You don't know what? You seem apprehensive for some reason."
"I-" Cole was interrupted by a sudden, familiar, albeit sickly feeling that overcame him. The familiar stench of a hollow. Some things never change, and yet...

"That's odd." The boy noted with a raised eyebrow. "Perhaps a walk will clear your mind."
"Funny." Cole retorted, turning out of his own bed and standing up, phasing through the boy entirely as if he were a ghost.
A ghost. Perhaps that was rather accurate for what he was.

The boy phased out again in a smaller blaze of blue flame that was promptly snuffed out by an unseen wind. Still, his presence and voice could be heard within Cole's own thoughts; "If you're going to burn something down, might as well be useful while you do so."

"Yeah yeah..."

Cole got dressed quickly, hustling to grab his equipment. He noted he was running out of ginto capsules before continuing on with his usual checklist until he was satisfied. With a sigh, he opened the window, knowing full well that Matthias, after his recent tirade, wouldn't let him leave without a lecture, and he dared not think what Sachio would do.

"Why is it that I have to feel like I'm breaking out of jail each time this happens?" Cole commented with an exasperated sigh, as the cold nighttime wind blew into his room and brushed past his face, sending chills down his skin. The sensation, mixed with the hollow reiatsu that permeated the air, was less than ideal, as it seemed to seep in like poison with the invitation.

The pale light still shone brightly, however, and the night was to be a long one yet.

And unbeknownst to Cole, another was nearby watching.

Silence in Death Empty Re: Silence in Death

Post by Alessandra Fri Dec 30, 2016 9:26 pm

Alessandra moved quietly through the night. She had left the big city and her hotel room opting for more permanent residents. A small town nearby fit her needs as well as was the home of her dear cousin Cole. Since she had last seen him she'd kept a watchful eye over him hoping that he did not notice her presence. Despite her personality when seeing him she had an obligation to fill as the side branch of the family but also as a personal directive. Her family was the more militaristic branch and usually served as bodyguards for the main branch.

A large burst of Reishi and the unmistakable scent of a hollow and its presence spoke volumes to her as she quickly climbed atop of one of the many small houses in the town. Keeping her eyes peeled she watched, not even drawing her rifle but waiting. The pressure she felt was most definitely that of her cousin, however it did not seem to her that he had yet engaged the hollow.

To top things off, despirefeeling the hollow near by, she cpuld not find it.

Silence in Death Empty Re: Silence in Death

Post by Aloysius Koehler Sat Dec 31, 2016 2:09 am

The buildings and flickering street lights soared past Cole in a blur as he zoomed down the road with quick bursts of Hirenkyaku, speeding faster than any normal human could see, much less compete with. The night air bit at his face as like ice, and the hollow reiatsu grew thicker and thicker as he approached the area. Still, he could not discern the hollow's exact location.

It's probably hiding, phased just outside of reality. The voice surmised for Cole, though he had a similar thought already.
"It's not a lesser hollow this time, this feels... much different." Cole murmered to himself, stopping atop a rooftop to gauge the area. A park was nearby, the same one that many hollows used to crowd within, due to the cover of the forest often providing them with an advantage. The row of surburban housing was unchanged, though it was the same street that the one hollow from a year prior stormed through and broke much of the street and housing apart with a reckless charge, and then disappeared in the same instant that it came. A behemoth of great power and size, and which almost killed him... He still wondered why he was alive yet.

Shaking off those thoughts, he turned his attention back to the hollow, and a smaller, familiar reiatsu he could detect not far off. It didn't ring as a hollow, though what it was still eluded him. He ignored it, it wasn't a priority.
"It's probably an arrancar. Maybe even two or more." Cole hypothesized, continuing forth with a surge of speed, his feet no longer touching the ground below as he soared across the black, cloudy sky.
Perhaps. Though what would an arrancar be here for? The voice asked rhetorically.

It took a minute longer before Cole neared the source, or at least the general area that the reiatsu seemed strongest. He stopped, standing atop a treebranch with one arm grabbing the trunk. He scanned around the area, seeing only more houses and dim street lights. It was quiet, almost eerily so, as the wind whistled around the empty alleyways.
"Where is it...?"

Alessandra finaly caught sight of Cole, his blindingly fast speed was super hard for her to keep track of,still she made pursuit, staying well behind him she finally braught her rifle out, a tiny amout of reishi would barely be noticable she lay down atop the roof of a particularly tall two story house. Her rifle resting atop the crest of the roof as she looked down the scope. She spotted cole, nearly right away, watching him grasp the thick trunk of a tree. He seemed to be searching for the hollow same as her, as she swung her rifle to scan she too searched for the source of the hollows presence. Something felt off to her as she watched cole's body language. Grabbing a large shell from the pouch on her leg and slid it into the chamber of her rifle to give her first shot a little more power.

Silence in Death Empty Re: Silence in Death

Post by Shia Corrona Thu Jan 05, 2017 3:44 am

As the two Quincies neared their destination, a portal tore open into a neverending blackness, like a scar in reality. A young, white-clothed, black haired Arrancar stepped forth, musing at her surroundings. Her hair was long with bangs swept in front to the side and with a fading pink dye at the tips. Her face was sharp and youthful, with a similar colored mark next to one of her eyes and a silver headband hidden underneath the hair. Her clothes were simple, sleeveless, and white, with faint grey stripes running vertically up and down her attire.

It took her only a moment to notice the presence of other, powerful entities. She looked up at Cole, who stood gazing down at her from a nearby tree, but said nothing, not even drawing her zanpakutou.

It was Cole that broke the silence between them, noting that she wasn't quite the source of the hollow reiatsu he sensed. He lept down from the tree branch to the ground, not but a dozen meters away from the Arrancar that emerged from the now closed portal. Though he didn't conjure his weapons yet, he closed his hands around both of his quincy crosses, ready to arm himself at a moment's notice.

"I don't suppose you're here peacefully." Cole remarked rhetorically, stepping to the side in a sort of circle around the arrancar. He noted the presence of another spiritual entity, a Quincy it seemed like, but the source was still a distance away and staying still.

He kept his attention set on the Arrancar, ready for any deception she may throw his way.

Silence in Death Empty Re: Silence in Death

Alessandra tightened up her finger on the trigger as she watched the arancar appear. In her scopefinger she could see Cole grip his crosses, but still had not drawn his weapons, she held her fire however, waiting to see how the arancar responded to cole.

A feeling filled her gut as she pulled a small device from the satchel on her side placing it on the roof beside her.

She did this without even looking at the device. Still she used her free arm to activate the charge and link it to her detonator.

A small smirk filled her face as she shifted her sight to the hollow and slowed her breathing in anticipation of what she expected it to do.

As the Quincy landed in front of her and began circling her, the Arrancar didn't so much as break eye contact, nor calm demeanor. When he asked her what she deemed as a foolish question, she couldn't help but smirk.

"No, and I'm rather glad I found you." She said simply, as the ground started to shake beneath them.

It all happened quickly: another garganta opened before the two of them, as a large beast seemed to materialize through it. Its wings spread out around them, with sharp spikes on the wings, and claws as large as cars, the dragon emerged forth with a growl. Its purple eyes honed in on a surprised Cole, the tendrils wrapping around themselves with a seeming hatred and anticipation.

"Catch me if you can." She said, a second dragon emerging behind her as she sped away in a blur of high-speed motion, leaving the two winged beasts to the Quincies she left behind.

Cole was unsurprised at the Arrancar's reply, though what occurred next caught him off-guard. Hollow beasts like the ones that emerged with a thundering roar, towering over the suburban houses and treetops, were unheard of. Let alone two of them. He drew his weapons in quick order, conjuring forth flaming magnums with a flick of his hand, as a chain materialize around his arms and across his back, connecting them.

He flashed backwards in a hurry as one of them unleashed a cero blast from their gaping maws at where he stood, noting that the Arrancar had already made her escape. He landed atop a nearby treetop, gauging the dragons' strength, as they roared, shaking the ground once more in an unwarranted rage.

This isn't what I had in mind when I suggested we take a walk. The voice spoke with a sardonic tone as Cole took aim at his newfound opponents.

Alessandra had expected the hollow to attack, so it came as a shock, as two large hollow looking dragons took form, beckoned by the arrancar. Her smirk disappeared as she switched target to one of the dragons, the one on the left reletive to her current position. With a small tug of her trigger a shot of her rifle was off, the shot aided by one of her ginto shells resounded with a thunderous boom. Her crosshairs hovered over the dragons chest at the base of the neck. She hoped the shell had enough power to pierce ts hide.

A flash of a cero flew out of the second dragon flying at cole who seemed to have no problem dodging the blast. However in that instant alessandra had lost visual on the arancar much to her chagrin.
